Bet on yourself and your ability to lose weight? I don’t think this is a good idea, and would love to give you a healthier alternative to DietBet! Have you heard of DietBet? This image explains it well:
And my video explains all that I’m about to type, if you’re not much of a reader!
My first issue with DietBet is in the name itself - the word “Diet.” For a nutrition plan to work, it has to be a long term lifestyle change, not a temporary fix. How can you expect to keep seeing results if you go back to your old habits?
It has to be a lifestyle change!
Additionally, another reason I think there needs to be a healthier alternative to DietBet is that DietBet relies entirely on a change in WEIGHT. Do I need to remind you why judging success based upon the reading of a scale is bad?
The best fitness goals are effort-based, as opposed to results-based.
See? Here’s a reminder of how to set good fitness goals!
So with that in mind, DietBet can definitely improve… But in the meantime, Beachbody is doing a Healthier Alternative to DietBet - Health Bet!
Here’s how it works! Beachbody is putting at least one million dollars into “the pot.”
You invest in yourself by getting a Beachbody program of your choice (or Beachbody On Demand), and Shakeology - and you can get them together for a great deal!
For each of the four weeks outline above, between September 5th and October 2nd, you post FIVE Shakeology images and THREE Workout images per week to the My Challenge Tracker App, which is free! You can also join our group! Just click here, click on “attending,” and we can give more info! If you’re looking for one of the deals on Shakeology + a Program, contact me here, and I’ll be glad to help!
It’s SO important to find what motivates you! I recently found a system that I think is PERFECT to keep myself productive and in motion toward my goals, and I explained it yesterday on facebook live!
In it, I reference how I used Snapchat as motivation (and my code for that is below). I recorded my stories for the day (which usually also include behind-the-scenes on shoots) to illustrate it for anyone who isn’t on snapchat or doesn’t follow me… yet! 😉
Have you tried DietBet? If so, did it help you? What motivates you? How do you keep moving when you are feeling like you don’t have the oomph to do whatever you need to do? Comment below!
xoxo,
Mandie

Hi Mandie! I have never been a fan of DietBet and have never participated in one. Personally, like you, the word “diet” already gives me negative connotations. In addition I think it sets people (speaking of how I am of course, assuming I’m not the only one that feels this way) up for failure and bad feelings. There are so many other ways to be successful. You can even set up your own “pot” as a reward. So I agree, there are other, healthier alternatives to DietBet!!
Thanks for visiting! Yes, I totally agree! It would be terrible to add insult to injury to have you lose money AND feel unsuccessful despite many efforts that were actually really helping you closer to your goals in ways that would/should be measured off the scale! <3
Can I just say I agree 100% with the anti diet bet…I actually did it once, makes me sick to think of it now…it is soooo twisted and not healthy for the mind and really the body in the long run!

I did it too, once! And it was silly! Because I have always been on the small end, it was basically possible to drink a lot of water, weigh myself, and then weigh myself in the morning another day. So I guess I sort of cheated… And mother nature and my cycle played a role, too! It did keep me a little on track with random times, where I considered whether or not to indulge in foods that don’t help me toward my goal, or where I considered skipping a workout, but overall, I could see it being damaging to someone with serious weight to lose who may be doing the right things and building muscle at a faster rate than losing fat!
When I first heard about DietBet, I was skeptical. I mean, it does seem kind of wrong IMO. Not only for the word diet, but for the fact that it’s a competition to lose the most weight. Sure, it works great for some people, but I agree, it needs to be a lifestyle. Diets just don’t work. You drop the weight and then put it back on if you don’t learn good new habits.
