At the beginning of last month, I shared my goals for 2018, more specifically January and first quarter of 2018. When I shared those, I also shared that I’d plan to come back monthly to show my progress and update my Q1 and monthly goals for February and show my accountability with how I did each specific thing. So, without further ado, here are my February Goals & Accountability!
One thing that stands out to me was that I was starting to use a website saved to my phone called 42goals to track my progress of the daily actions I wanted to take.
I must say that I am loving using that site! Whenever I have some free time, I just look to the list and see what I have or haven’t done that day, and get to it!
That doesn’t mean I was always perfect, but I did have a lot of days I completed everything on the list!
Here are the screen shots of those weekly audits!
(Yikes… However, I can assure you that that’s not me “falling off” my resolutions, but that I had family in town! And my values are to spend quality time with family over working - I work hard the rest of the time because I want to be able to do that with family! So please don’t judge that in my February Goals & Accountability, haha!)
See? It got better again! It’s just weekends are hard, especially with guests/in-laws in town!
If you’re detail-oriented, you may notice that there were some changes to what I was checking off!
There are also some things you can’t see that changed in my perception, some of which I am still working on.
You already know I have a “ho job,” (and if you don’t, you’re probably clicking the link to see what the heck I’m talking about – haha), plus my makeup and modeling jobs, so that coupled with my personal life as a newlywed in a new city makes time a precious commodity, which I’m sure you can identify with!
I took away “read,” and decided to combine it with “PD Audio/Video,” because the important part of this goal is to learn, not to check off a box. Very soon, I hope to have the time to do both listen to podcasts or courses I’ve invested in, AND read, but as of right now, it is much tougher. That way, I am still learning every day, and not beating myself up over being able to check off a box at the end of the day! I am still working on reading The Desire Map* (I’m at the workshopping part), and am looking to incorporate Jesus Calling as a daily habit, though!
I also added “content” to be sure that I am creating content every single day, and then added “three things” to make sure that I am doing at least three things each day to move the needle on my goals! That’s a newer strategy, but it has been really helpful to make sure that I am not just being busy, but am doing things that actually matter!
The two areas I am struggling with definition on are the “move” goal and the “write” goal. For “move,” I can’t decide if I should count a specific workout being done, or if I should use the goals on my Apple Watch that count calorie burn, higher activity, and time spent standing. I am leaning toward taking one or the other to count for it! I have had a bit to celebrate in the movement category of my goals, and that was specifically that one of my two physical health goals were to get visible abs, and to be able to do unassisted pull-ups. Well, I did two unassisted chin-ups consecutively for the first time this month, which was really exciting!
As for the write goal, initially I was being very generous for it, counting other things for it. Then I switched to ONLY counting writing my book for thirty minutes. Moving forward, I am going to count it as working on my book, or writing blog posts, because my blog is suffering from days that I am not writing blog posts I’ve planned because I didn’t feel like I had time to spend 30 minutes on my book. Following the rules isn’t supposed to hurt other areas of my business or hinder potential progress!
I was planning to write one blog post each for my main topic categories of makeup, meals, muscles, motivation (though there tends to be way more of those anyway because of the podcast) and misc/Mandie, but as I said – this was slowed by my high expectations for writing each day!
I did, however, make a lot of progress on my book. As you can see below, I celebrated 10K words written, and now I’m even at 15,416 words (with a goal of 42Kish)!
That’s the sum of my daily activities and how that’s been going. I’m excited to continue with the new edits to the idea!
On to the other goals I had for January… One main goal was that I wanted to make our entire home Instagram-worthy. I was able to get the main painting done, which feels great, and got a lovesac for the upstairs family room (which I really want to take time to enjoy), but the rest of the decoration progress still needs work! I will update next month!
Another plan was to create my vision board. It may sound “woo woo,” but I ended up deciding I wanted to wait for the next New Moon to create it, so right now I am working on finding pictures for it!
I had goals of doing one portfolio-building shoot for my makeup portfolio, and one for my modeling portfolio. I did one for the makeup portfolio, and became very inspired to work on my modeling career as a whole, so I will even make up for it this month and do two!
Here’s a video from the makeup shoot!
I also wanted to work on our highlight reel this month for this year, and I am glad that I am revisiting the concepts, because I’m realizing that I have to go back to add some of the great things that have happened the past few weeks! This just shows me it is worth the effort to make this a habit!
One bigger part of my goals that has changed is my main focus for the first part of the year. It has shifted from primarily wanting to grow my following to prepare for my book launch to getting my book done first and then working on my following a little more naturally than I was before, which I’ve enjoyed, as it has felt more natural, though the numbers have slowed a bit as a result! I think, though, if what so many content creators say is true, that if I consistently create great content, the following will come. Perhaps if you’re reading this, you agree!
The only thing that I did not do ANYTHING toward this month was Smart Success, which is going to be a main focus for February. This is partially because of a reminder I received that “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result,” and knowing that I can’t do ALL of these things alone anymore. Time for that to change!
I will complete my Smart Success program by the end of February!
So, moving forward – I am going to continue with my daily activities (with the new adjustments I made), as well as get significantly further in home decorating - get all of the furniture items I am looking for, hanging up all the art I already have, do the paint touch-ups required, and getting things organized the way that I want (mostly my makeup – haha). As I said, I am going to continue with my highlight reel, and COMPLETE Smart Success. I will do two shoots to develop my portfolio as a model, and one as a makeup artist.
I am really excited to share the results next month!
xoxo,
Mandie
