Charitable Work
Ever since Mandie’s mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2008, Mandie has been a huge advocate for breast cancer research and prevention.
It was through these efforts that she became involved with the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, which is a three day long, sixty mile walk that takes place in almost 15 cities yearly throughout the United States.
This year (2016), Mandie will be walking in her seventh 3-Day walk in San Diego, and she plans to keep walking until we live in a world without breast cancer - and then she’ll be looking for a new cause to champion.
Each year, there is a $2300 fund raising MINIMUM, and Mandie is still working toward that goal. If you can, please donate. There is a $5 minimum donation, and every dollar seriously counts. You can donate here.
The picture shown is from the 2010 walk, where the part of the Mamalitia that walked was at its largest (so far).
Here are two blogs (one) and (two) about fundraising efforts that lead up to Mandie’s first 3-Day.
Here is the blog from Mandie’s first 3-Day (Chicago 2008).
She did not walk in 2009, because she was the maid of honor in her teammate’s wedding.
She did not blog the 3-Day in 2010, because she was still figuring out Tumblr, her new blog platform of choice. She did, however, blog links to pictures of the 2010 3-Day, which have captions that explain as well as her blog would. The blog also shares the fundraising efforts for the 2010 fund raiser. You can read that here.
Here is the blog from her third 3-Day in Boston, 2011.
And here’s a video Mandie made for the fourth 3-Day in the Twin Cities, 2012!
