Welcome to Bold Moves Podcast Episode 178 Fearless Fridays 89 Omozua’s Challenge! If you missed Monday’s post, I interviewed Omozua Isiramen. She has got a list of bold moves she’s made, and obstacles she’s overcome including the fact that she went through a period of not being able to walk as well as the death of her mother at 19. Omozua reached out for help to get to the point to learn that by changing the way she interpreted and reacted to the emotions she felt, she was able to operate differently. She took steps to improve her courage including becoming a Certified New insights Life Coach, and Omozua even got trained to be an Emotional Mastery and Intelligent Leadership Executive & Neuro-Coach. As always, Omozua issued a challenge for the listeners and readers, so that’s what today’s all about! Keep reading (and listening) for Bold Moves Podcast Episode 178 Fearless Fridays 89 Omozua’s Challenge!
As always, you can choose to listen to any Fearless Fridays episode in the post where the player is embedded (see below) or on iTunes, Stitcher, or whatever podcast app you choose. The interviews are available both as audio in the same way the Friday episodes are, or also on YouTube. =)

Basic facts on emotions and the brain:
The brain is construed to understand what the body feels at any given time and to help us know what to do next.
It reacts only to perceived danger, threat or vulnerability. This can easily become an issue when we trust what we interpret and feel, without ever checking the possibility and probability of what we are reacting to.
Emotions are biologically somatic responses of our neurology, neither good or bad and just evaluations of the sensations you feel initially. They are guesses or predictions which the brain creates and are based on stored data from past experiences.
They are part of our every day, come and go, never last long and can be intense, resourceful, unresourceful. They do not happen to us, rather we make them.
The good news is that we are not at the mercy of our emotions – we have more control than we are sometimes aware of.
We can do more than FREEZE, FIGHT OR FLEE – we can navigate them and live a productive, fulfilled life.
Courageous Task A: Mastering your Emotions
Discover your emotional “set point”seven consecutive days. To explore whether you have ongoing patterns in your life, it is useful to explore your state and emotions randomly throughout the day.
Starting Monday create a template that goes like this.
• Date & Time:
• The feelings in my body are…
• What’s going on in my mind?
• How do you experience this (internal dialogue, sounds, internal images for example. What does your inner theatre script say and create while you check your state)
• Comment on what you think and reflect about it (on your template).
Do this randomly at 5 different times of the day by setting your alarm clock differently.
Assignment duration: 7 days consecutive days
You can only become aware of what you intentionally set out to know
Have fun. It is all about self-awareness here. The intention is to explore the emotional baseline you are living by. Consciously and subconsciously. No judgement or evaluation.
The map is not the territory
Emotions are the difference between the map and the territory
An emotion is the feeling of the meaning that we attribute to our interpretations!
Some emotions get us moving and others keep us stuck. I like to refer to them as resourceful and un-resourceful ones.
Courageous Task B:
· For the next days, you will practice with intention, not to indulge or dwell in un-resourceful thoughts or emotions for seven consecutive days. Take note of how that makes you feel overall.
· Let them come and go. Do not react like you usually would.
· Identify the emotion – What am I truly feeling right now? Am I really feeling this or is there something else?
· Acknowledge and appreciate the fact that the emotion is here
· Do not evaluate or judge – be curious about the message the emotion has in store for you.
Ask: What does this emotion offer me? What can I do to experience this moment differently? What can I learn from this emotion? Choose how you want to feel
· Every single emotion is a call to act, review, reassess, stop doing something or to be aware of something
